The last fortnight we are delighted to see Cancer Nurses being recognised for their outstanding work and improvements to patient care in a number of National Awards.
The winners of the RCNi Nurse Awards 2018 were announced on 4th July 2018 at a ceremony London hosted by TV presenter Kate Garraway. Two of the 14 categories celebrate cancer nursing and research. Foteini Rozakeas, Lead Research Nurse at University College London Hospitals NHS Trust was winner of the Cancer Research UK Sponsored Excellence in Cancer Research Award. Gillian Knowles Nurse Consultant in Cancer at NHS Lothian won the Cancer Nursing Award sponsored by Macmillan Cancer Support.
The Health Service Journal Patient Safety Awards were held in Manchester. The winners of the Cancer Care award were Belfast Health and Social Care Trust: Improving the safety of chemotherapy prescribing through implementation of a standardised electronic assessment proforma.
The Healthcare Transformation Awards Improving Cancer Outcomes 2018 award was won by Sheffield CCG and local voluntary organisations for the project to Promoting equal access to cancer care and support across Sheffield.
