Recent years have seen a developing partnership between the UK Oncology Nursing Society (UKONS) and the British Oncology Pharmacy Association (BOPA), based on a shared commitment to delivering optimal cancer care. Since 2009, UKONS and BOPA have hosted a joint annual conference for oncology nurses and oncology pharmacists. Key to the overwhelming success of these events is the collaborative spirit and the synergistic nature of proceedings.
Given the enthusiasm with which nurses and pharmacists have responded to the UKONS/BOPA partnership, a joint 2012 UKONS/BOPA conference has again been scheduled. The conference will open on Thursday 18 October with a full agenda of UKONS conference events. Friday 19 October will see a packed joint BOPA and UKONS programme, to be followed by two days of BOPA activities on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 October.

Abstracts
Delegates are invited to present results of their supportive care and clinical work as a poster and/or an oral presentation. The author/s should submit an abstract of their work to Succinct Communications by 5pm on Friday 22 June 2012. The abstract serves at least two purposes. One is to inform delegates at the conference of the content of the contribution; this helps understanding of the material presented and facilitates its discussion. Another is to allow its inclusion in the conference programme and the proceedings of the meeting. Abstracts will be reviewed, and chosen authors will be invited to display their poster for the duration of the conference, or be offered the chance to give an oral presentation.

Venue
We are delighted to be holding the UKONS and BOPA Annual Conference 2012 at the Harrogate International Centre (HIC). Located in the centre of the spa town of Harrogate and at the heart of the UK, the HIC is one of the most impressively integrated conference, exhibition and events venues in Europe. A £13 million expansion project, just completed, has created two new exhibition halls creating an additional 3,000m2 of exhibition space along with additional car parking facilities underneath the new halls.
